ST3000 series communication controller (hereinafter referred to as ST3000) is a product designed by our company for many years for the application characteristics and requirements of "intelligent and information operation management" of electrical equipment in different industries. As the core hub equipment of the "intelligent and information operation management" platform, they play an important role in improving the operation reliability of the "power distribution system", reducing operation and management costs, improving work efficiency, and reducing labor intensity.

adopts ST3000 series products to solve a series of problems such as wide distribution range, large quantity, long transmission distance, large amount of information, inconsistent communication protocol and complex data exchange in intelligent terminal equipment in power distribution system. Through this kind of equipment, the huge power distribution system network is "divided" into independent and interoperable "subnets" to realize the local data collection, data screening, data transmission, protocol conversion and operation management of each intelligent terminal equipment.

ST3000 series products mainly support TCP/IP, Modbus-RTU, DL/T 645, IEC-103 and other fieldbuses and power protocols for spacer layer equipment, which solves the problem of coexistence of multiple communication protocols. At the same time, ST3000 series products mainly support Modbus Server (RTU or TCP), CDT, IEC-104 and so on for station control layer, which solves the problem of dual network interconnection and data sharing of high reliability systems, it is the bridge connecting the field bay layer and the station control layer.

ST3000 series communication controller adopts embedded structure based on Linux platform. The product adopts modular, integrated, low power consumption, no rotating components design, with no fan, small size, low power consumption, stable performance and other outstanding advantages, ensuring the stability and reliability of the equipment is very suitable for unattended system data acquisition, data screening, communication management and protocol conversion functions.

7. Precautions

in the long-term power automation system project implementation process, found that the following points are easy to be ignored, now listed as follows for reference.

1, according to the actual needs of the project and the system cost of comprehensive consideration of the system network structure and bus type. At present, the bus protocols commonly used in domestic power automation systems are:

  1. RS485 Modbus-RTUbus
    • advantages: the protocol is simple, the cost is low, most manufacturers can supply, the actual communication distance using Class A shielded twisted pair can reach 1km (theoretical value 1.2km), when the communication distance is greater than 1km, the distance can be extended by adding repeaters or using photoelectric conversion modules (RS485 to optical interface).
    • Disadvantages: the communication rate is not high, the baud rate is generally less than 100kbps, and the baud rate is usually 19.2kbps.

2. After determining the system bus type, it is necessary to clarify the interface specification of intelligent protection measurement and control equipment in the system:

  1. must be clear (e. g. Modbus RTU ≥ 19.2kbps, Profibus-DP ≥ 1.5Mbps)
  2. communication (e. g. Modbus RTU requires device typical response time ≤ 50ms at 9.6kbps)
  3. interface type: RS485, TCP, etc
  4. bus connection mode: usually there are terminals, DB9 plug, RJ45 plug and so on

3and field bus network. In order to ensure the long-term stable operation of the communication system, the connection of communication cables in the distribution cabinet must be clearly defined:

  1. Communication cable wiring must be far away from the strong current cable, avoid parallel with the strong current cable;

  3. The shielding ground of communication cable in the system must be reliably grounded at a single point;
    1. system communication medium usually uses two kinds of twisted pair and optical cable.

Due to the classification of twisted pair too much, various types of quality and price gap is also very large, due to the high temperature distribution cabinet and interference intensity, so it is recommended to use Class A shielded twisted pair, its technical parameters are as follows:
  2. the anti-interference ability of optical cable is strong, but the construction and maintenance are relatively cumbersome. Optical cable according to the need to choose single mode or multimode.
